About Piriápolis Co-living

In March 2025, I arrived in Uruguay for the first time. I had never visited before. I had no contacts, limited Spanish, and a one-way ticket. I was a 58-year-old semi-retired lawyer and professor from the United States, and I had decided, after lots of research, to simply go.

I landed in Piriápolis, a small beach town on Uruguay’s Atlantic coast that most people outside South America have never heard of. Within a few months, I had found a home, figured out residency, navigated the healthcare system, built a community, and started wondering why more people weren’t doing exactly what I had done.

The answer, I realized, was not that people didn’t want to. It was that they didn’t know how and didn’t have anyone to show them.

Why This Site Exists

Piriápolis Co-living exists to make the transition to life in Uruguay more accessible, less intimidating, and genuinely enjoyable, especially for women who are considering this move on their own.

Uruguay is one of the most stable, affordable, and welcoming countries in the Western Hemisphere. Piriápolis is one of its most charming and livable towns. And yet the gap between “I’ve been thinking about this” and “I actually did it” is enormous for most people. That gap is made of uncertainty, logistics, language barriers, and the simple fear of arriving somewhere new without a foothold.

This website is designed to be that foothold.

What We Offer

Piriápolis Co-living currently offers three ways to experience life here, at different levels of commitment:

The Piriápolis Experience is a one-week immersive stay designed for people who want to experience real daily life in Piriápolis before making any decisions. You live in a real neighborhood, do ordinary things, ask real questions, and leave knowing whether this place fits your life. A private room is included. This is the place to start.

Piriápolis Co-living House is a longer-term co-living arrangement currently in development. The vision is a furnished house shared with a small number of residents who want the independence of their own space alongside the warmth and practicality of shared daily life. Projected at approximately USD $650 per month, all-inclusive. Expected to open in 2026.

Piriápolis Supported Co-living is also in development. The vision is a co-living house with a higher level of daily support for residents who want or need assistance with meals, transportation, healthcare coordination, housekeeping, and more. Designed for people who are not ready for institutional care but would benefit from consistent, compassionate support in a home environment. Projected at approximately USD $1,300 per month.

About Me

My name is Faith (In Uruguay, I go by “Fe”, which means faith in Spanish). I am a semi-retired lawyer and professor, a hiker, and someone who genuinely loves this town and wants to share it. I started and am the administrator of a 500+ member expat community in Piriápolis. I know the healthcare system, the residency process, the neighborhoods, the markets, the sunsets, and the people. I came here not knowing anyone and built a life I am proud of.
